Sunscreen
We recommend the following sunscreens:
Daily Use
Elta MD UV Clear SPF 46
This sunscreen is my absolute favorite for acne patients. It goes in clear, with no white streaks. SPF 46 ensures full sun protection for hours, and it's broad spectrum with anti-UVA and anti-UVB Zinc Oxide. It's hypoallergenic as well. And of course, it's non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores. If you plan on doing water sports or outdoor sports that involve sweating, be sure to pick up both the EltaMD UV Clear and the Solbar.
Chemical Free
La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral
This sunscreen is the purest of pure. With only zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as active ingredients, you won’t need to worry about any harmful effects of chemical sunscreen ingredients. This makes it perfect for pregnant or breastfeeding women with acne. It's non-comedogenic, meaning that it won't clog pores and cause acne. However, because it's water resistant, you definitely will need to wash with soap or cleanser to remove it before bed.
Sport Use
Solar Zinc SPF 38
This sunscreen is great for water sports and outdoor activities that may cause some sweating, like going for a jog or a hike. It's non-comedogenic, meaning that it won't clog pores and cause acne. However, because it's water resistant, you definitely will need to wash with soap or cleanser to remove it before bed. Transparent Zinc Oxide has broad spectrum anti-UVA and anti-UVB protection.
