1. Knowledge is Power
Dr. Jacob here, and today's episode is Knowledge is Power. This series is all about acne. We're going to bring you to the current level of the forefront of knowledge of treatment of acne: why we get acne, what are the underlying causes of acne, what can we do to avoid acne, what triggers acne, how do we treat blemishes - everything under the sun about acne. So if you know the material that's in here in these episodes, you are going to be way ahead of the game. Just by knowing a little bit about your acne, you're going to have such a better handle on how to treat acne.
You can do a lot by yourself, you can eliminate certain problematic things. For example, if you're a bodybuilder and you're taking whey protein to get big and you eliminate that or change to a different protein, then you're going to see a lot of your acne clear up. Or let's say you're a woman with adult-onset female hormonal acne and then you say "Oh my gosh, I've been eating high glycemic index foods. I listened to this series and I realized if I cut out sugar and sweets, and I stop eating as many servings of white bread, white pasta and white rice and I eat more whole grains, suddenly I don't get the breakouts nearly as badly." So things that we can modulate and eliminate, everything about that is contained here in these episodes. Pretty much most of what I know about acne is here. I see patients with acne all day long, it's what I do for a living, and I figured that I might as well share my knowledge with everybody, so that patients with acne can get the improvements that they deserve.
This series is great not only for patients, but for doctors who are not dermatologists necessarily, but maybe pediatricians or family practice doctors; doctors who are looking to get more information on treating acne. This is a pretty comprehensive series, and if I do say so, I think by bringing this information to your patients, you can really help them out.
I'm Doctor Jacob, and without further ado, we'll get started with the show.
